This book takes a huge risk. The main hero, Rand, is barely in it. However, it pays off beautifully. You watch Mat Cauthon step up to become a fan favorite. It fleshes out the supporting cast and proves the world is bigger than just one 'Chosen One.' The narrative drive is strong.
